Road to Hana

The tropical landscape of Maui is entwined with a narrow, serpentine mountain highway that was carved into and made one with the natural environment. Traveling the road to Hana hurriedly is not only foolhardy, but the opposite of what a meaningful journey is.

While seeking your vacation destination, deliberately make your way in an unhurried manner, taking time to stop often. With each rest during your journey down the Hana Highway, own every breath-taking view, every organic Maui scent and hear the environment as it is meant to be heard, in its ageless, natural atmosphere.

Lush scenery spreads along the Hana Highway. With many scenic places to stop and view; the gorgeous waterfalls, the mini cascades, sprawling eucalyptus groves, and inspiring bamboo jungles. Roadside fruit stands offer the bounty of Maui and provide a meaningful spot to stretch your legs and absorb the natural Maui environment. This side of Haleakala is considered the moist side. When you arrive in Hana you will feel like you are in "heaven." Perhaps this is why it is called "Heavenly Hana" so frequently.

This drive is considered one of the top 10 most beautiful drives in North America. The road generally follows the old King's trail. Even if you are not staying in Hana this drive is highly recommended to all Maui tourists as the area is considered to be the essence of Maui. It is like leaving the island.

This is the road to Hana. This is the road that is the beginning of your journey, not a solely means to an end.
